Dr Jonas Salk, at his Institute for Biological Studies, is seeking ways to fuse the two disciplines of the scientist and humanist. It is vital for scientists and humanists to work together, he claims, ‘to make the decisions and choices that nature has made until now…for the greatest value to human life and society as a whole’.
