A flat fertile land with many waterways supporting a dense population; many crops including spices, for which the district was known to the Arabs and Phoenicians; Vasco da Gama and the history of Kerala; the Byzantine influence in the city of Trivandrum; paintings and sculptures in the museum and much more including the life and customs of the people.
