The story of Kyomi and her dream of becoming an “Ama” girl. Shows Japanese girls diving for oysters on the Mikimoto farm. When the nucleus is inserted the oysters are placed in wire cages and returned to the water on suspended rafts. They are lifted and cleaned several times before the pearls are harvested. Shows grading, weighing and stringing in the factory.
