Explains the origin of the feudal system and the benefits which it offered to both lord and serf. Recreates phases of life on a representative manor, and discusses the duties of the lord and his seneschal. The work of artisans, the importance of the three field system of agriculture, the operation of the manner court and the role of the abbey are also highlighted. Includes scenes of festivities accompanying the marriage of the lord’s son.
