On their way to Dingley Dell, Mr Pickwick and his friends meet the rascally Alfred Jingle, with his unusual telegraphic style of speech. Tells how Jingle hoodwinks them all, ingratiates himself with Miss Rachel Wardell, elopes with her in the middle of the night, and is finally apprehended by Mr Pickwick.
