The story of Glenrothes, a new town being built in the heart of Fife, Scotland, and of Rothes Colliery, a modern mechanised colliery situated nearby. The pithead facilities at Rothes and the novel architectural design of Glenrothes with its comprehensive amenities for the mining community, are shown and the visit of H.M the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh to the new town.
