An ABC-TV Outside broadcast introduced by Peter Couchman. The National Gallery of Victoria’s new building, the dream of the Director of the Gallery, Mr. Eric Westbrook, for twelve years came to fruition after four years of planning. The architect, Roy Grounds’ “Vision Splendid” has become a reality and Stage 1 of Victoria’a new art and cultural centre is opened. An on-the-spot film of the opening ceremony in the Great Hall and speech by the Rt. Hon. Sir Henry Bolte. Fanfare composed by George Dreyfus.
