A small boy finds a balloon which follows him everywhere and fills his need for friendship. When the balloon ultimately lifts the child to the sky, it’s a liberating expression of the freedom of childhood. Based on the story by Albert Lamorisse. No dialogue. (Awards: Academy Award, Best Original Screenplay; Cannes, Best Short Film)
