Demonstrates the growing importance and use of Victoria’s roads by transports and by private motorists. Shows the assistance given to designers of motor vehicles in estimating probable load capacity by the Country Roads Board. Explains the careful control of over-dimensional loads for which 15,000 permits are needed annually and show the detailed planning needed for safe and convenient handling of such loads as mobile cranes, houses and earth-moving equipment for which escorts, special equipment and timing is needed.
