Often referred to as “the England of the South Seas” New Zealand turned out enthusiastically to greet Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip during their visit in 1954. The Royal couple visited all major centres of population in the North and South Islands seeing some of the magnificent scenery, a glimpse of the various industries and the colorful ceremonies arranged for the Royal Visit.
