A report on illegitimacy in Britain. Eight unmarried mothers are interviewed before and after the birth of their babies. They talk about contraception, abortion, adoption and the problems they face in society and in supporting a baby. The work of the National Council of the Unmarried Mother and Child, Mothers and Baby Homes and the social worker is shown. Narrated by Douglas Keay.
