Dr.J.Blunden discusses various attempts to analyse and quantify the spatial structure of urban zones, using Chicago as a primary illustration. In particular he considers E.W. Burgess and his concentric zone theory, and Homer Hoyts sectoral model, and both are integrated into a composite model.
