Episode of Series “The Twentieth century”.
The history of polio and its treatment and the discovery of the Salk vaccine. Old newsreels show the late President Roosevelt in the early stages of treatment at the Georgia Retreat, and Sister Kenny at work. Some of the medical men who have worked on the disease and the final triumph by Dr. Jonas E. Salk.
