Describes the routine daily activities of a union representative member of a District Council in New York City, who looks after the interests of a number of legal municipal unions. Throughout a typically busy week, she mediates on behalf of one local union, settles the grievance of another and recruits members for a new maintenance workers union. Illustrates the important role of the labour union in a democratic society and the many satisfaction’s it offers those who work within it.
