Magazine items: The summer of 1976 brought scorching heat and dryness to Germany affecting the whole country and its people; election campaigns; Germany mourned the death of its old president, Gustav Heinemenn; World wide noise prevention programme by Lufthansa through replacement of noisy jet engines with whisper-quiet shielded motors; over 700,000 tourists visit the island of Helgoland each year.
