Christmas Island, in the Indian Ocean, provides a large part of the phosphate rock requirements used in Australia and New Zealand. The mining of this phosphate is the only industry on the island. This film covers all aspects of the mining operations, and also shows the social and domestic life of the people engaged in the industry.
