In Britain the National Trust has acqired a number of estates and areas of land of historical interest: they include ancient castles, such as the 14th century Bodian castle, a Chiltern village, the famous valley of Dovedale, a number of prehistoric stone circles, 14,000 acres of Westmorland countryside and an extensive area of downland in Sussex. These estates and landmarks are held in public trust forever.

Content notification
