Young Will Bennett has been assigned a steer to raise and to groom for a 4H club contest, but he is sadly disappointed in the “Hayburner” he has ended up with. A middle-aged retarded helper named Joe enters the scene and sees promise in the animal. Together Will and Joe work to win with Mickey. Based on the novel by Gene Smith.
