Episode of Series “Horizon”.
Mondragon in the Basque region of Spain, is an industrial town where more than 80 factories are co-operatively owned by the workers. All this has been created with scant help from a suspicious government and no funds from stock-market investors. It has run successfully for twenty-five years. The workers run the factories and appoint the managers, run their own bank, technical college and research laboratories. In Britain, workers and management have been at loggerheads since the Industrial Revolution. Examines the feasability of Britain following the same road to prosperity. Narrated by Alexander John
