After the arrival of the Olympic torch from Greece, and a short history of the Games, Pope John welcomes the athletes and the Games are opened in an impressive ceremony. Interspersed between the various events are glimpses of the tourists and competitors. Includes Herb Elliott’s world record and olympic record, Dawn Fraser’s world record and Australia winning the cross-country riding event. The final highlights are the great marathon and the closing ceremony.
