Based on a short story by O Henry, it tells the story of frail young Lena, who is hired out by her father to a wicked innkeeper. Lena finds escape in a book of fairy tales about handsome princes who save maidens in distress. When the innkeeper throws the book on the fire, a chain of events is started which proves to Lena that fairy tales can come true. Suitable for middle and upper primary levels.
