Follows the training program of Karunakaran, Indian 52 kilogram class weightlifting champion, in the former palace of the Maharajah of Patiala. Looks at the crucial role of psychology in his preparation and shows the extraordinary relationship he has with his coach. Karunakaran is then shown in competition with Nick Voukelatos, a young railway worker from Sydney, at the Brisbane Commonwealth Games in 1982. Highlights the vulnerability of top sports people during performance and training and at other times. Suitable for middle and upper secondary levels.
