Illustrations by Ron Brooks from the book of the same name by Australian writer Jenny Wagner are used to tell the story of Rose, an old widow, and John Brown, her trusty sheep dog, who live together comfortably until a midnight cat strays into their garden and challenges John Brown for Rose’s affections. Adaptation by Ernest Troost. Suitable for primary school level.
