PGR presents some of the values and practicalities involved in taking children outside. Sandplay and waterplay are examined, as is the preparation of garden “playscapes”. Gardening is recommended as an outside adventure, and birdwatching in the garden is also discussed. Stories may provide a lead into outdoor activities which exercise both imagination and body. Finally, hints on preparation for a shopping trip and camping expedition in the backyard are provided.
