Examines and defines the altered consciousness state and the problems it causes, in particular, the patient being unable to recognise and thus react to dangers either external e.g. fire, or internal e.g. blocked airway. Looks at Epilepsy, diabetes and head injuries as specific examples. Emergency treatment included .
