William Dieterle’s film of Victor Hugo’s magnificent novel “Notre Dame de Paris” is a beautifully fashioned, powerful and dramatic work with an unforgettable visual impression. Charles Laughton plays Quasimodo, the hideously deformed, tragic hunchback. Maureen O’Hara plays the enchanting Esmeralda. Rated: PG
