A seven part program designed to provide an overview of our electoral system and its development. Commencing with an outline of the principles of democracy, the programs proceed to trace the history of Government in Australia, discuss the different levels of Government and examine the role of political parties, the voting system, the conduct of elections and the use of the referendum in changing the Constitution.
Our collection comprises over 40,000 moving image works, acquired and catalogued between the 1940s and early 2000s. As a result, some items may reflect outdated, offensive and possibly harmful views and opinions. ACMI is working to identify and redress such usages.
