Eight in the 80's

Showcases eight interesting and innovative films made on the low budget medium of Super 8. Because of the gauge’s low cost and extreme flexibility the filmmakers using Super 8 have a freedom that allows them to create genuinely exciting and rich works, ranging from diaristic experimental films to straighter narrative dramas through to absurdist, surrealistic comedies.

Our collection comprises over 40,000 moving image works, acquired and catalogued between the 1940s and early 2000s. As a result, some items may reflect outdated, offensive and possibly harmful views and opinions. ACMI is working to identify and redress such usages.
