Television dramatisation of the second of Ruth Park’s novels covering the trials and tribulations of the poor Irish-Australian Darcy family of number 12 1/2 Plymouth Street in Surrey Hills - a Sydney slum. In this series it is the 1950s and all the Darcy children have grown up yet they still have to face the problems of their working class background.
