A young orphaned girl, Jane Eyre (Joan Fontaine) takes the position of governess to the daughter of the mysterious Edward Rochester (Orson Welles), master of a large and eerie house on the Yorkshire Moors. Will she receive the same harsh treatment she has always known as a child - or will she find the love she has always longed for? And what dark secret lies hidden at the top of the house? Based on the novel by Charlotte Bronte the script- writers include Aldous Huxley. Features Margaret O’Brien as the young Jane and Elizabeth Taylor as her orphan friend.
