After narrowly avoiding an unsuitable marriage, a woman novelist retreats to an elegant Swiss hotel in the off-season, where she ponders her life whilst carefully observing her fellow guests. A nicely paced and detailed adaptation of a Booker Prize-winning novel, by Anita Brookner, filmed amidst the lakes and mountains of Switzerland. Stars Anna Massey and Denholm Elliott.
