Lionel Barrymore and Billie Burke play the Jordans, a shipping magnate and his wife, who are planning a dinner party and invite several interesting people. The complex plot gets underway as we get to know the invited guests and learn about their lives, their joys, their problems and their tragedies. Adapted from the play by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber.
