La Gioconda

Set in the 17th Century, a ballad singer attempts to save her mother and win the love of her Genoese Prince by becoming involved in the elopement of two lovers. Performers include: Eva Marton, Placido Domingo, Matteo Manuguerra, Ludmila Semtschuk, Kurt Rydl. Vienna State Opera (Vienna) conducted by Adam Fischer. Text by Arrigo Boito after Victor Hugo. Music by Amilcare Ponchielli.
