A cantor’s son makes it big in show business. Archetypal Jewish weepie which became of absorbing interest as the first talkie film (songs and a few fragments of speech). Stars Al Jolson. Based on the play by Samson Raphaelson. Also includes a segment entitled “Behind the scenes” which documents the premiere of the film.
