A lonely army wife (Jane Fonda), whose husband is serving in Vietnam, falls in love with a paralysed veteran (Jon Voight) she meets while working as a volunteer in the Army base hospital. An unusually mature examination of the effect of the Vietnam War on the lives of American servicemen. Winner of Academy Awards for Fonda and Voight. Based on a story by Nancy Dowd.
