In this eerie, theatrically staged horror film, a young couple, Madeleine Short (Madge Bellamy) and Neil Parker (John Harron) encounter the world of voodoo and zombies in the Haitian mountains when they arrive as guests of Charles Beaumont (Robert Fraser). When their host enlists the evil powers of Muder Legende (Bela Lugosi) to place a curse on Madeleine, a series of chilling events occur.
