Episode of Series “The Potter: a series of films”.
The use of clay for the formation of useful objects such as tiles, trays and pots is discussed and demonstrated in this video which is specifically aimed at junior grades. Most of the examples are made with the assistance of students. These are treated in sequential order and degree of difficulty: Pottery without a wheel Part 1 - the use of coil pots are shown and made, the movement and rolling of clay as with the tools which are used for shaping and finishing are discussed. Pottery without a wheel Part 2 - the techniques of firing and finishing of the pots are shown. The making of tiles and other rolled objects are shown. Pottery without a wheel Part 3 - This discusses the firing and glazing of the finished pots and clay objects.
