Vivien Leigh stars as Karen Stone, a wealthy American actress who settles into a luxurious apartment in Rome after the sudden death of her husband and gradually falls prey to fortune hunters who seek monetary rewards in return for romantic favours. Warren Beatty plays her young lover who feigns amour then flutters away on another attractive assignment. Also stars Lotte Lenya. Adapted from the novel by Tennessee Williams.
