The Owl and the lemming: an eskimo legend

Canada, 1971

Film
Please note

Sorry, we don't have images or video for this item.

The owl and the lemming in this animated film are short-legged, plumpy stuffed puppets made of seal skin by Inuit artists. The accompanying song and voices are in Inuktitut, although the legend is narrated in English. The story in which an owl hunts a lemming will appeal to all audiences, especially children. Moreover, it preserves on film an example of Inuit folklore that may in time disappear.
