Episode number 1 of Series “The Best of British”.
The War Game examines the British approach to war with scenes from some of the most famous movies ever made, such as” Waterloo Bridge”, “Henry V” and the “Life and times of Colonel Blimp”. “Heroes” makes the comparison between heroes of American cinema and their British counterparts. A tribute is made to the “stiff upper lip” hero played by the likes of Leslie Howard, Jack Hawkins, Stewart Granger, Alec Guinness and David Niven in a variety of roles from spy to school boy. Narrated by Sir John Mills.
