Recorded live at the Sydney Opera House on 18 February 1984 this performance of Francesco Cilea’s ” Adriana Lecouvreur” features the grand voice of Dame Joan Sutherland, along with John Shaw, Anson Austin and Heather Begg, The Australian Opera Chorus and The Elizabethan Sydney Orchestra conducted by Richard Bonynge. Set in four acts, it tells the tragic story of a Parisian actress, Adriana Lecouvreur. “This is an excellently sung, played and staged production of this lovely, lyrical opera”…(The Canberra Times). Sung in Italian with English subtitles.
