A comic opera in four acts, music by Mozart and libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. This performance, directed by Peter Sellars, is set in modern times, in Trump Tower, Manhattan, 52 floors above Fifth Avenue. The action takes place in a single day, where love, fidelity and loyalty are all put to the test. Features singers Sanford Sylvan (Figaro), Jeanne Ommerle (Susanna), James Maddalena (Count Almaviva), Jayne West (Countess Almaviva), Susan Larson (Cherubino), Lynn Torgove (Barbarina), Frank Kelley (Don Basilio), David Evitts (Doctor Bartolo), Sue Ellen Kuzma (Marcellina), Herman Hildebrand (Antonio), William Cotton (Don Curzio), and the Arnold-Schonberg-Chor. Also features the Wiener Symphoniker conducted by Craig Smith. This co-production was originally staged for the Pepsico Summerfare Festival, The International Performing Arts Festival of the State University of New York at Purchase, by director Christopher Hunt. Sung in Italian, no English subtitles.
