Matt Calder (Robert Mitchum), is a widower with a dubious past, attempting to restart his life with his young son Mark. Harry Weston (Rory Calhoun) is a lawless gambler with his fiancee Kay (Marilyn Monroe). Calder rescues Weston and Kay from the river only to have Weston rob him and abandon them to the mercy of warring Indians. Calder takes Kay and Mark on a dangerous journey of revenge down the raging river. The chemistry between Mitchum and Monroe and the awe-inspiring backdrop of Canada’s breathtaking secenery are the highlights of this tense western thriller.
