Demonstrates safe lifting practices for families, friends and service providers of people with disabilities in community based environments. Overviews how the back works, risk factors and correct lifting practices. Provides guidelines for when the person being asisted can help or cannot communicate and assistance techniques including seating adjustment, discussing the lift, adjusting position in bed, transferring, assisted walking and lifting in a team.
