This program investigates the Human immune system and what defences the human body has against disease. Topics covered in this area include: physical barriers against disease, means of pathogenic entry into the body, defences of the body against entry of pathogens, antigens and antibodies, role of phagocytes, the immune system and its function, the nature of immunity, vaccines and their development and the function of antibiotics.
