Barbara Streisand stars as Fanny Brice in the role which earned her the 1968 Oscar for Best Actress. From humble beginnings and her mother as the sole supporter, Fanny joins the famous Ziegfeld follies. Conscious of her looks and apprehesive about singing about her beauty, Fanny subverts the Ziegfeld model and plays it as a comic role. Her career is successful, but her private life is plagued by the misfortunes of her gambling hudsband, Nick Arnstein (Omar Sharif), jealous of his wife’s success. Includes memorable hits such as “Don’t rain on my parade” and “People”.
