Part five of a series of five on South America, this part visits regions west of the famous Andes. The area is defined as including countries on the narrow strip of land between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. It includes Equador, Bolivia, Chile and Peru, all of which are rich is their history of early Amerindian civilization.
