An alien (Jeff Bridges) makes a stopover on earth when he encounters the Voyager 2 probe. By masquerading as a human he has the opportunity, if only for a little while, to live like an ordinary man. His arrival is quickly discovered by a young woman (Karen Allen) who develops feelings for the Starman and agrees to assist him in the 2000 mile journey it will take him to get home. Cast includes Charles Martin Smith and Richard Jaeckel.
