This documentary explores the significant role Gordon Bennett played in the development of the union movement on Christmas Island. Bennett immigrated from England to Australia and quickly rose in the union ranks. In 1979 he arrived at Christmas Island to help the workers union improve worker conditions. He was responsible for significant changes and during his twelve years became a folk hero to the local inhabitants.
