Opens with a brief historical survey of the origin of bread. Shows the processes involved in modern bread-making; growing of wheat, harvesting, shipping, storing, milling and baking, and explains the function of yeast in bread-making. The film also surveys the work of the Bread Research Laboratory in Sydney, established to improve efficiency and product standards.
